The eye-dazzling beauty of Zakynthos

Zakynthos, also known as Zante is the third largest Greek island in the Ionian seas and well-known summer resort in Greece... The harbor city of Zakynthos is the capital, centered around waterfront Solomos Square. Popular beaches like Agios Nikolaos, Alykanas and Tsilivi offer swimming and water sports. Witnessed by boat, Navagio beach is the site of a famed 1980 shipwreck resting in a sandy cove surrounded by cliffs.
Zakynthos is a very big place in terms of size... It covers an area of 405.55 km2 (156.6 sq mi)
Around 20 kilometres (12 miles) west of the Greek mainland, it is a famed tourist destination, with an international airport served by charter flights from northern Europe. The island was nicknamed as "the Flower of the Levant" by the Venetians who were in possession of Zakynthos from 1484 to 1797. According to the 2011 census, the island has a population of 40,759. The highest point is Vrachionas, at 758 metres (2,487 feet).
Zakynthos has the shape of an arrowhead, with the "tip" (Cape Skinari) pointing northwest. The western half of the island is a plateau and the southwest coast consists mostly of steep cliffs. The eastern half is a densely populated fertile plains with big sandy beaches
